MemberMothra LarvaeJan-05-2015 6:09 PMI saw previous Godzilla films before viewing it and I was just shocked and I started balling my eyes out because, I didn't expect it. What's your reactions?

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-05-2015 7:07 PMIt was kind of spoiled beforehand for me. I had seen the Heisei films prior to the original Godzilla, but one of them was Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. Since I had already seen that film, I knew that the Godzilla in the original film was killed by the Oxygen Destroyer and the Godzilla in the other movies was simply his successor. Still, I won't deny that the ending of the original film had an emotional impact on me when I first saw it and when I watch it now, due to both the sad fate of the monster himself, and the brave man who ended his own life to save millions.

MemberBaragonJan-05-2015 7:10 PMI don't remember since I saw it at such a young age, but doubt it shocked a 3-4 year old so much they could comprehend the story enough to cry.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-05-2015 9:41 PMI'm pretty tough to get to cry when it comes to movies, so no.
But I will say though, even though I knew it was going to happen and I was anticipating it, it did move me pretty good. You can't help but feel sorry for Godzilla as well as all the victims of Nuclear Power.

MemberBaragonJan-06-2015 1:26 PMWhen i first watched the american version with Raymond Burr, i did not cry. I like durp as a child didn't find it to upsetting at that time period. As a kid you really don't understand that much about storyline.
I was 8 or 9 when i finally got to watch godzilla vs. destroyah, it was that movie that made me cry actually. I did not read the back of it or even knew that godzilla was going to die in that film. As a kid then i thought that godzilla somehow had reached a point of supreme power, in which he did, but did not think it would lead to him dying the way that he did.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-06-2015 1:39 PMGodzilla's meltdown in 95' got me as well. Watching my hero fall was tough, but the 54' version had a darker tune to it, so his passing in the original didnt bother me.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-06-2015 2:20 PMIt was kinda sad to see an innocent creature dying. It was the same feeling that I had when I saw King Kong accepting his doom and falling from the Empire State Building.
However, I did not cry. Possibly because Godzilla was shown to be more like the villain of the movie.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-07-2015 11:08 AMi think the only times i came close to crying in a godzilla movie is godzilla vs destroyah because you literally see godzilla melt infront of your eyes and godzilla 85 when he falls into the valcano as he screams and falls to his "death"

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-07-2015 4:43 PMI was really young when I saw him "die" in Godzilla 1985, and it made me weep. I thought it was the last Godzilla movie ever made. Then one day I saw a bunch of the Heisei movies in Blockbuster and it blew my friggin' mind.

MemberBaragonJan-07-2015 4:53 PMI can agree with being more sentimental to the meltdown in 95. That was a Godzilla I'd watched, and grown attached to. The Godzilla in the first movie is a 1 off monster. Especially in King of The Monsters. A lot of the scenes deplicting any thought of sympathy is taken out making him seem like a monster ravaging. Sorry but personally even in the Japanese one besides Yamane's scene of wanting to sit in the dark pouting over them trying to kill him I never felt that much in terms of Godzilla being misunderstood at least not to the point I'd cry over his death.
