Who do I prefer? Godzilla or Kong?

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-17-2017 3:30 PMNow, I may be pushing my luck by doing this, just kidding haha. But in all honesty, I first heard of Godzilla back when I was little and had watched the 1998 remake of Godzilla, yes I will admit I thought Zilla was the true Godzilla but I learnt of the Japanese Godzilla through Angry Video Game Nerd (James Rolfe) and his Godzilla-Thon series.
But, I did see Kong first. When I was really young, I watched the 1933 movie and loved it, I loved the stop motion and everything about it. (Ann's screaming annoyed me though...)
I also watched King Kong vs. Godzilla on VHS having bought it from a car boot sale, and it was the American version in which many scarily deluded G-Fans think Godzilla won in some sort of Japanese version of the movie, but Toho themselves confirmed Kong won due to his popularity at the time. And I am not one to question Toho, nor should any G-fan if they truly respected them, but I digress.
I don't mean any harm to the G-fans, I just think that if Toho says something about their own movie and canon, then it should be accepted as fact. Obviously I know that Godzilla will win in Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020 due to the G-fans threatening to throw fits and throw death threats if Godzilla doesn't win, and I now realise why some people see the G-fans as toxic but I don't think that at all, just a few have a few screws loose.
But, if G-fans are so against these two fighting in the sense that Godzilla will win anyway in their eyes, then why have they been asking for a remake of King Kong vs. Godzilla all these years. Be grateful you're even getting this. Again, I mean no negativity, just things that bother me.
So who do I prefer, them both? They are both icons in their own rights. Please don't get upset over my views, thank you.

AdminGodzillaOct-18-2017 9:09 PMThe thing is there are conflicting sources regarding the outcome of this battle. While Toho's 1963 international sales info on the film says Kong won, books released by Toho much later, including the Definitive Godzilla Introduction (by Tomoyuki Tanaka) and another Toho special effects book (the title escapes me) claim it ended in a draw.
Personally, I'd go with the sales brochure. It was the most immediate resource at the time when all of the film makers were still alive. Seems like the most clear and plausible source. But that won't ever stop fans from debating it until the end of time.

MemberGodzillaOct-18-2017 9:49 PMG. H. (Gman) Well said. GojiFan99's view is valid since canon can be debated considering movies, supplementary literature, different cuts etc... No one is really wrong. I like to think the match was a draw.
The debates are fun and educational though.

MemberTitanosaurusOct-23-2017 8:10 AMI just want a fare rematch between the 2 monsters. Toho gave kong a strange ability to combat Godzilla(who was kicking kongs hairy ass up and down Mount Fuji, literally). I just want to see a rematch. Kong clearly won back in 1963, but I don't want to open that conversation again about my theories on the film.
YOU.....DUMBBELL!

MemberBaragonDec-06-2017 6:42 AMBoth of them sucks and this movie should be cancelled! /s
Anyway, I think the movie is going to make them team up against a bigger threat.
Godzilla Generations was a beautiful game! I loved the fact that there's a laser cannon inside of Dr. Serizawa's eyepatch.
