All of them.

Honestly, any of the Heisei movies (Godzilla VS King Ghidorah would be my choice), Final wars and you can't go wrong with the original 1954 Gojira.
Long live the king...

Thanks Kaiju World.
I would buy more, but I don't want to spend all of that money at once.

I would get the 2014 one easily. Also the original if you can find it. Also the original Mothra from 1961. Also if you just like the monster verse check out the first King Kong ever made.

i already own 2014 and kong. I definitely will look into Mothra and the original though! the original is a little pricey on amzon, it may have to wait. Thanks for the response!

I'm looking to get all of them including the mothra movies, rodan, space ameoba, war of the gargantuas, frankenstien conquers the world, basically any movie that has any amount of cross over into the godzilla franchise, I also want to get the gamera movies just incase all our dreams come true and we get that vs movie that has been argued about by fans for decades (shhh let me dream)

To be fair, a great many of them are pricey since so many are out-of-print. Some you really have to pounce on before they skyrocket in price.
Also, in terms of the Heisei films, Blu-ray is the only way to go. The DVD versions are particularly awful as they only include the dub and two of the movies aren't even in widescreen.

Since we're cutting the numbers down I'll just list bare necessities for 1 reason or another.
Gojira
Ghidorah The Three-Headed Monster
Godzilla vs Destoroyah
There are a lot of other ones that I like more or close to the ones I listed but those are huge event films that matter to the series as a whole for me so going with them first as recommendations.

I dunno which ones you should buy
Zwei Wing is the best singing duo. Change my mind.

Godzilla vs Gigan is one of my personal favourites, it has one of the better human stories of the showa era and some great monster stuff as well as some...not so great stuff...but that stuff is very minor and outweighed by how great the rest of the movie is, it also has one of my favourite visual effects of the entire showa era that I don't want to spoil if you haven't seen the movie but it involves a certain characters shadow (for those who have seen the movie so they know which scene I'm referencing)

I went ahead and ordered King Kong vs Godzilla, Godzilla vs King Ghidorah, Final Wars, and the original Godzilla 1954. The first three will arrive within the nest week, but i won't get 1954 Godzilla for about 3-4 weeks.

Which versions did you get?

Godzilla vs King Ghidorah and Final Wars came in a set of two, they are both blu-ray, and i think they are dubbed in english, i'll have to check that. they also have the japanese versions.
I couldn't find a blu-ray 1954 Godzilla, so i bought a DVD, even though it won't be as good, and that is the american version.
Godzilla vs king kong comes with the american version.

So you're getting Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth with Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah and Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. with Final Wars?
Also, here's the Criterion Blu-Ray for Godzilla '54. I'd cancel the DVD order if you can, because somehow this is the best version of the film out there--Even better than Japan's release.

Yeah. But my brother already owns both tokyo s.o.s and GvM, i wish i could have gotten GvKG and FW by themselves, but whatever.
and thanks! i would definitely prefer to have the blu-ray

i don't think i need to own something that my brother does when he lives pretty close to me, but yeah, i guess it'll be nice to have them. the ultimate goal is to own all the movies down the road, so i guess it works out.

I recommended this:
Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0279112/
This film is creepy as hell. All kaiju (even King Gidorah) want to destroy MAD GODZILLA! And Godzilla in this film is literally maniac from slasher films.

The Sony Blu-rays only come in twos with the exception of Godzilla 2000. But they all include anamorphic widescreen with the original Japanese versions. So they're worth it.
Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah / Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth
Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II / Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla
Godzilla vs. Destoroyah / Godzilla x Megaguirus
Godzilla 2000
Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack / Godzilla x MechaGodzilla
Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. / Godzilla Final Wars

my list is probably (all of the mosterverse with godzilla 2 when it will be released at disc), gdz vs mothra, vs destoroyah, GMK, 1954 original and that's it... the others are not bad but they are definitely not at the same level

Thanks Jack.D
I already picked a couple up, and don't really want to spend a bunch of money again, but next time I am looking to purchase some Godzilla films, I'll definitely consider these.

This question also begs: What are you looking for in a Godzilla movie? It's sort of hard to recommend films when there's 35 extremely different tones by so many different directors:

I am not really looking for anything in specific. I am going to buy all the movies i can find eventually, I just wanted to start off with what most people think are the best.

You ask 30 Godzilla fans what the best are, you get 30 different answers. 1954 will probably be the one constant.
I for one think the older 50s and 60s films are the best, or generally anything by Honda. Things tend to fall apart by the 1990s.
