An explanation for my absence and a change in my status on this website
+ an opinion on shin ultraman and the kaiju eiga theater experience.
Well, that was...... much less climactic then I was hoping (as in me leaving and not really leaving but still kind of being gone but whatever)
alas, the reason for my absence, or I guess ¨prolonged time between posts" really.
after a bit of thinking I have decided that my presence on this site wasn't really adding anything meaningful, not to mention that my Christmas vacation was one of the most lonely, depressing experience of 2022 and probbably 2023.
now, its time for a new era of monsterzero9, now im monsterzero11!
im going to start posting less frequently and go over my topics more closely and make sure my topics and comments pack punch and insight and arent just mindless shallow trash *cough*Kaiju1234*cough*cough*.
and now, shin ultraman.
overall, I thought it was a really great film, im not going to get into spoilers but i felt the first half of the film was just a tad better than the second half, i wish the film would have sticked to thee original soundtracks from the original shows instead of switching to new tracks once zarab showed up. I really enjoyed dancing in my seat when the og science patrol showed up, I had a huge smile on my face during the gabora and zarab fights.
my only complaints is that the music in the mefilas fight was.... interesting, i suppose..... and that the film ending kind of abruptly. I was happy to see that unlike shin godzilla, it didnt rely on evangelion for its score and marketing, I suppose its because ultramans still a strong brand unlike godzilla which needed a more popular franchise to help put it back in the spotlight.
I also had an interaction with a guy in the theater when the movie ended, he said ¨now we need a johnny sakko movie!¨ and I replied with ¨shin goranger! make it happen!¨ it was humbling knowing that there was another tokusatsu fan in my area, the last i saw of him, he was walking of, into the distance.
*original science patrol THEME.
Glad you got to see it. I'm keeping my opinion on the film close until my review for Kaiju Ramen comes out and my appearance on a kaiju podcast. But, as always, seeing kaiju films in theaters is always the best way to watch them.
Good to see you back.
