Today, we are going to explore one of the most prominent kaiju media companies within the fandom. We will be learning about how this group has used their platform for good, and how they have been helping the kaiju community to grow over recent years.
Summit Kaiju International was founded in 2015 by Jeremy Soles and is based out of Denver, Colorado. One of the largest and most recognizable goals of Summit Kaiju is to showcase X-Plus figures, specifically- figures of Godzilla and other kaiju. Whether it’s promo images of a newly unveiled figure, a photoshoot of one of Jeremy’s own figures, or images of Summit Kaiju helping to present figures at a convention, you can expect to see a plethora of X-Plus figures whenever you visit one of their numerous social media pages. Check the end of the article to see where you can go to follow Summit Kaiju.
Speaking of conventions, Summit Kaiju recently had the amazing opportunity to be interviewed while helping at the Shonen-Ric X-Plus booth during New York Comic Con. The interview was conducted by the Adam Savage’s Tested YouTube account. The video offers a great summary of X-Plus and highlights several exciting upcoming events for the company. We definitely recommend giving the interview a watch when you get the chance.
One last way that we will discuss today that showcases how Summit Kaiju helps within the community is with “Kaiju in Nature Photography.” The basic premise behind the idea is to simply take photos of kaiju in natural settings and then share them online. However, there’s much more meaning behind the initiative then just great artwork. By posting with #kaijuInNature on social media, Summit Kaiju hopes to spread awareness for both the kaiju genre and natural conservation. When people see some of the amazing Kaiju in Nature images online, the beauty of the figures posing in natural landscapes is sure to trigger an interest for the figures themselves, and more importantly, for nature. If you follow the trend for long enough, then you may even be able to capture a glimpse of Summit's original kaiju Batholith.
If you would like to learn more about Summit Kaiju and X-Plus, then be sure to check out their respective websites. Additionally, you can find a full set of Summit's social media pages attached to the bottom of their website. And be sure to check out Summit's interview from NYCC for even more information about Summit Kaiju and the X-Plus brand.
