The Seibuen Amusement Park, which closed as the coronavirus swept Japan, recently announced its grand reopening for May 19th. In addition to the park being reopened, it announced the latest Godzilla attraction,"Godzilla the Ride: Climactic Giant Monster Battle". (Or "Giant Monster Battle Summit".)
"Guests are thrown in the midst of fierce battles between Godzilla and King Ghidorah, and the thrills of sudden attacks can be enjoyed with a transcendental excitement," reports Yahoo! Japan.
Two time Japanese Academy Award winning director Takashi Yamazaki (Always: Sunset on Third Street, Returner, Space Battleship Yamato) takes charge of the ride's visuals. He is partnered with Shoichiro Tsuno of Sword Creative Team, a company known for engineering theme park rides.
A self proclaimed Godzilla fan, Yamazaki gave Godzilla a cameo during a dream sequence in Always: Sunset on Third Street 2. (Pictured below)
The key visual seems to indicate the first time a major attraction will feature Legendary's Godzilla. Although it's interesting to note, Seibuen's interpretation of the design looks more like... well... Godzilla.
Toho's current flagship design for the Monster King, from Shin Godzilla, has recently been featured in two Universal Studios attractions. ("Godzilla: The Real 4D" and "Godzilla vs. Evangelion".) Nijigen no Mori Theme Park on Awaji Island also features the "Godzilla Interception Operation Awaji" zipline attraction. Seibuen Amusement Park will be the third theme park to feature major Godzilla entertainment in the last five years.
The ride opens soon.
