G. H. (Gman) For elaborating more on the rules. (As I recommended.)

MDK 2,
I pretty much just copied and pasted what I wrote in the other thread so... no? I think you just didn't read in the other thread.

G. H. (Gman) I'm sorry. I have no idea what's going on right now. Let's just enjoy the images on the threads and leave this behind us.

The most powerful King Ghidorah yet (excluding "The Planet Eater", cuz it was just floating heads) in full hollywood CGI glory. What a time to be alive!

godzilla3580,
I think the jury's still out on that one until we see the film.

I'm not so sure if this is the proper forum for this, but here's mine:

G. H. (Gman) Thanks for clarifying on its relevance in this forum.
Also, that last image of the Allosaurus is not a part of the thread. The first two are.

This is "food for thought" per the OT. What would fans do if Godzilla had no spikes on the back? It seems to make sense- I never saw them serve any other purpose but to look like......cool.....and awesome......

video just removed by user- sorry. If it was a forum member, it was not a call out. It just supported my post.
I like the spikes but think it would be ok to ditch them.
Maybe big spikes mask a big belly?

dk,
I don't see any reason to remove them and it makes him look less powerful. Dougherty once likened his spikes to his "crown" which is why he made them bigger in the latest film.
It's a prominent part of his design at this point I think removing them would be akin to removing the second mouth of the xenomorph.
Also, have you noticed Godzilla's spikes light up before and while his atomic breath is fired? The electrical discharge vents excess radioactivity. But aside from that it's a very cool, old visual characteristic. It's also added moments of dramatic buildup throughout the years. Whenever his spines glow you know what's coming.

Indeed. The spikes lighting up during inhalation and exhalation is a neat effect and it suggests interaction with the environment (drawing something from the air?). The spikes also just look cool. It adds depth to know that they serve an actual function though imo. Even though it is all just a story, finding a plausible purpose makes the creature even more interesting and can inspire discussion/debate.
