MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 9:06 AMThe reason I have this posted here is because of several movie discussions, and this is about the movies in general. By those lines, this fits better in Classic Godzilla than Godzilla Videos Games or Godzilla Fan Works.
During my time before I joined this site, I snooped about, poking around, finding out what everyone thinks. I have now come to want to know more in depth an answer of which I cannot come to.
WHO truly is Godzilla's ultimate foe?
I have concluded it must be one of the following:
Mothra [she has defeated him the most. She is also extremely intelligent and incredibly fast] (she is frail)
King Gidorah [he has fought him the most. Also, he is consider the main antagonist of Godzilla] (usually under mind control)
Destoroyah [it took about 9 red "spiral rays" directly without major, or minor, damage. These usually kill kaiju instantly] (has to break apart and then fuse again to heal)
MechaGodzilla 1/2/3 [it always has an expansive array of weaponry more than capable of harming Godzilla] (robot)
-MY OPINION-
No one is worthy of this title.
Mothra has defeated Godzilla the most, but has died or had help nearly every time.
MechaGodzilla 1/2/3 have only truly been successful in suppressing Godzilla, and only MechaGodzilla 2 (as Super MechaGodzilla) was able to kill him.
King Gidorah has fought Godzilla the most, but has had the least amount of success. Everytime he just comes back to fight again.
Destoroyah proved to be durable. Extremely durable, but that was virtually it. He killed Jr., but not Godzilla. Also, he attempted to flee. Cowardice is pretty unacceptable. Even King Gidorah fought to the death.
Note1: The reason I say MechaGodzilla 1/2/3 is because they are all essentially/basically the same machine, however they are built with minor changes in abilities and weaknesses by different people.
Note2: Please refrain from mentioning Bagan, Keizer Gidorah and SpaceGodzilla (and Orga). They are not in the above list for a reason.
Note3: Destoroyah's death at the hands of the JSDF does not factor into whether or not he can hold this title. The humans just got lucky. Very lucky.
Bagan: He has appeared only in [a] video-game(s). This is about the movies.
Keizer Gidorah: He is a seperate entity from King Gidorah, evidenced by his copyright icon and the existence of several other Gidorah creatures, mostly in Mothra movies.
SpaceGodzilla: He relies on crystal structures for power and without them, he is a potatoe.
Orga: It looks like a mentally disabled, reptilian gorilla with a turtle shell. It barely put up any kind of fight whatesoever against Godzilla (even SpaceGodzilla did more), and therefor has no right to any title except mentally disabled reptilian gorilla with a turtle shell.
I would like to hear everyone else's thoughts on the kaiju I have listed about. Please refrain from mentioning other kaiju, unless it is Godzilla himself or any form of his son.

MemberBaragonMar-30-2014 9:10 AMI would say Destroyah.
Mothra's won the most, but look at all the fights. First fight the mom died and the babies finish the fight. Second time Had Battra with her and Battra died. 3rd time got killed with all the guardian monsters with the only real damage being the wound to Godzilla's shoulder. Last time had MechaG.
Ghidorah, did very well at first, but then deteriorated. After destroy all monsters nothing big really happened, and never did anything worth mentioning. I mean he kind of won in heisei, but that was this tech from the future increasing his specs.
MechaG. I don't think MechaG is weak, and would be my number 2 overall in this but Destroyah just showed too much for MechaG not to be behind him.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 9:46 AMThe Mecha's are copies of him. The ones who contain his DNA don't count to me. King Ghidorah would be his ultimate villain to me but he's got his butt kicked sooo many times. So it has to be Destoroyah, for killing his son and taking Godzillas attacks like a boss. And Mothra has been Godzillas friend at times
THE DESTROYER OF WORLDS
MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 10:38 AMGotta go with Keizer Ghidorah on that one. Godzilla was literally dead before Ozaki gave him his energy, and without that, he would've stayed dead.
Honestly, Destoroyah is overrated. Yeah, he killed Godzilla's son, but he really didn't do much else. The meltdown made Godzilla waeker as the fight went on, and if Godzilla had been at full strength, he would've kicked Destroyah's ass. Just because he's in the movie where Godzilla dies doesn't mean he is automatically badass. Remember, he got killed by the military...
So yeah, Keizer Ghidorah
Durp004
MemberBaragonMar-30-2014 10:55 AMI'm prety sure it's understood, that the meltdown made Godzilla much stronger. He was giving off so much heat his spines that had remained through lava and constant conduction of his nuclear breath were melting. So much heat the meltdown put the world in danger and Destroyah had a front row seat to having to deal with that.
Yes the military killed him but put anything from an insanely hot temp to extremely cold and see how it holds up.

AdminGodzillaMar-30-2014 11:00 AMGoing with King Ghidorah. Doesn't matter if he's the strongest or not, Godzilla's battles with King Ghidorah are always exciting. The original world destroyer.
godzillafan1995
MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 11:19 AMi'll say ghidorah (which includes king and keizer ghidorah)
yes destoryah was able to withsatnd the sprial ray, but godzilla only used the spiral ray on two foes 1. mechagodzilla who's diamond shield melted becuase of rodans energy transfer, so godzilla was shooting a an unprotected mech, also it took 8 hits to completly destory MG2, 2.SpaceGodzilla who has the ability to gain unlimited energy and could sheild himslef from normal beam, when godzilla used the spiral heat ray spacegodzilla had already been weakened by both the loss of his main power supply and had been weakened by mogera, before godzilla uses the spiral beam the characters state that SG is dying and godzilla had to make 5 direct hits before he was fully destoryed. destoryer on the other hand was at the height of his power and the beams do hurt him, sometimes he bleed. destoryah is no diffrent to what spacegodzilla would have been at the height of his power.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 12:51 PMAs for most powerful Mechagodzilla 1974. Destroyah fight was dull, wow they're just shooting rays at each other with no one getting the upper hand. The only fight worse is with Space Godzilla, it just goes on and on and on.
But as for Godzilla's true nemesis who Godzilla is always going to come to blows with is Ghidorah. Not Mothra even though I'm sure they've fought more. Mothra hasn't interested me since 1964.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 1:01 PMSuper mecha godzilla. He killed godzilla with all his technology and junk.
godzillafan1995
MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 1:27 PMghidorah was the first one that was so powerful that it required two or three monsters to make him rusn and took 5 or more to actually kill him. the first mechagodzilla was insane, he had so many monsters and (while gigan was the first to make him bleed) he made a blood bath out of godzilla. so those two are his most powerful but if i picked 1 i would again say ghidorah in general.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 4:29 PMMy choice is Destoroyah. A creature basically created from the only thing known to kill Godzilla sounds like an Ultimate Foe to me. A lot of people say King Ghidorah but I don't see it. KG is definitly the most reoccuring villain but most of the time he's being mind controlled and never personally goes after Godzilla. Destoroyah on the other hand killed Jr. right in front of Godzilla, and has shown to do critical damage to Godzilla unlike KG. MechaGodzilla is probbaly a second close one to ultimate foe.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 5:06 PMWell, if you're talking about Godzilla in general, I'd say either King Ghidorah or Mechagodzilla; Ghidorah because the movies generally treat him as being Godzilla’s arch-nemesis, and Mechagodzilla because, unlike Ghidorah, he is consistently one of Godzilla’s more formidable foes in all of his appearances.
However, if you mean the most powerful/deadliest foe any Godzilla has ever faced, I'll have to go with Destroyah. I know some might give that title to Keizer Ghidorah due to his energy-draining ability, but just look at what Destroyah has: incredible durability, a powerful micro-oxygen ray, a horn laser that can slice a kaiju clean in half, the ability to break up into smaller forms and recombine as good as new, the aggregate forms ability to inject micro-oxygen into a foe (which seemed to negate Godzilla Junior’s regeneration), being able to essentially use the Oxygen Destroyer underwater in its microbe form, and, oh yeah, an energy-draining ability (so potent that, in just a few seconds, he drained so much of Burning Godzilla’s energy that he momentarily stopped glowing). Aside from that, he was the only monster ever to successfully kill any Godzilla (I do count Junior). He is the incarnation of the only weapon ever to kill Godzilla, after all.

MemberTitanosaurusMar-30-2014 6:13 PMKing Ghidorah. Mothra is more likely to join forces with Godzilla for the common good. Mechagodzilla gets destroyed some how in the end (except for 3) and military weapons never worked before. Destoroyah was the only kaiju that was killed by the militray. Seriously, watch the end of Godzilla vs Destoroyah. He gets shot down by freeze rays. King Ghidoarah is the only one that I can call his true ultimate foe. But I still think there is more than one ultimate foe *cough SpaceGodzilla *cough Monster X/Keizer Ghidorah *cough Destoroyah *cough King Ghidorah. Opps, it seems I listed all the monsters I consider (in my opinion) to be Godzilla's ultimate foe's.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 6:41 PMI like all the opinions, and I'm going to update the main post, but please, refrain from mentioning Keizer Gidorah and Space Godzilla.
There is a reason I didn't mention them above (Keizer only appearing for an extremely short amount of time compared to everyone else and SpaceGodzilla's reliance on crystal structures for power. Without them, he's a potatoe.)
I will also add my opinion to the main post.
KEEP IT UP GUYS! :D I LOVE IT! [GIDORAH'S IN THE LEAD!]

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 7:34 PMI can get why you didn't put down keizer gidorah, but spacegodzilla absolutely deserve the the tittle of "godzilla's ultimare foe". Spacegodzilla unlike most of godzilla's foes he is pure evil coming to earth to conquer earth for himself. Spacegodzilla is also is one of the if not smartest monster in the godzilla serise and hell it took two monster to kill him, so my vote to godzilla's ultimate foe goes to spacegodzilla.
But of the options my vote goes to KG.
KaijuNastalgia
MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 7:57 PMI'd also Bagan. He needed a super transformation just to fight him. So he might have for Destoroyah and Ghidorah, but Super Godzilla could probably defeat burning Godzilla. Plus, Mechagodzilla is almost like a rival, neither one ever wins, but keep competing.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 8:21 PMAm I the only one who says Orga? I am? M'kay...
Lol, yeah, but you know of the choices above, I would say Keizer Ghidorah (he counts as King Ghidorah right?), because Godzilla needed asisstance from humans in order to defeat the guy.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-30-2014 9:11 PMI would say king ghidorah (including keizer ghidorah), he appeared in showa, heisei, and millenium.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-31-2014 4:57 AMI like all the feedback, but could someone clarify where the idea that Keizer Gidorah and King Gidorah are the same entity?
Judging from my research, they are seperate creatures.
Durp004
MemberBaragonMar-31-2014 5:10 AMThey are separate creatures but so is the Ghidorah from showa. heisei, and millennium. One's a space monster, one's a genetically engineered future monster, and one is an ancient monster that guards japan.
It's not the same, but they both shoot lightning, have the same general looks and the backstory of Keizer Ghidorah is fairly similar to what we've seen in Monster Zero from the showa. So I can see some1 arguing either way for if they should or should not be included in the same idea at least.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-31-2014 9:38 AMeven though godzilla was dying he was in an overload. Destoroyah had survived an absolute overload and only died by luck (I honestly don't want to believe he's dead I actually am working on a short film on one juvenile Destoroyah survived and it grew back)

MemberBaragonMar-31-2014 2:01 PMi would say that the original king ghidorah and kaiser ghidorah are his ultimate foes but destroyah fought godzilla while he was sick and was dying because of his sickness.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-01-2014 2:59 PMI'm not trying to troll, but I feel that King Kong is Godzilla's ultimate foe. The big G couldn't get the job done against King Kong, and I'm not sure he still could.
I demand a rematch!

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-07-2014 5:02 AM@JintheDragon- I believe that the only reason King Kong proved to be so difficult to defeat simply because of heavy weight on the script by who ever owns Kong.
AggressiveKaiju45
MemberMothra LarvaeApr-07-2014 5:37 AMI'd like to think it's Kiryu. They say that the worst opponent you can face is yourself, and that is exactly what Kiryu is to Godzilla. Both come from an ancient race, and have a connection amongst themselves that set them apart from the normal branch of monsters.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-07-2014 7:44 AM@AggressiveKaiju45- Your argument is sound, and yes it is true that one's greatest foe is themselves.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-08-2014 9:08 AM@Devianteist- Thank you. I never considered a rivalry great based on their difference of external motives, but rather of their internal relation. Much like Joker and Batman in a way.
