True American Godzilla
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-02-2014 7:16 AMI've been debating to myself, which I now feel should be shared with you folks, about the 2014 American Godzilla species... mainly on the differences between males and females. Since the 2014 Godzilla is part of a species, female Godzillas are possible to see in the future (now if that's a flashback or in the modern era I don't know).
First off, to recap the male Godzilla
Species: Godzilla
Gender: Male
Height: 400' (movie novelization size, which I prefer over the movie's size version)
Intelligence: Semi-Sentient
Abilities: Atomic Breath (Super-heated vapor/ionized gas, nuclear radiaton, physical force); Tough Armored Hide (can take a 15 megaton nuclear bomb and not be damaged); Great Physical strength; and the ability to breath on land and in water.
To me, males naturally have a 'blue' Atomic Breath but are capable of a 'red' Atomic Breath (more powerful, but uses all of his nuclear reserces so he only has 1 shot with it).
For females EDIT: Looking up some animals, and review some of the user comments, I have modified my thoughts to the female Godzilla. The 2014 Godzilla had a lot of its design inspired from bears, komodo dragons, and probably more. Now many mammals (and reptiles) have the males larger, while gilled animals can vary (for sharks, whos gill design matches Godzilla's) females tend to be bigger. Heck, even T-Rex females were bigger than males. HOWEVER, appearance wise the two (of the animals I jsut listed) were still about the same. T-Rexs, Sharks, and Bears (oh my) we can't tell the difference from male to female unless we were either an expert or (most likely) you had to do some tests to confirm its gender.
Female Godzillas were probably the same body style (maybe slightly slenderer) and coloration. As for if a female or a male was bigger, I like to think that it could vary like humans. Some guys are bigger and some girls can be bigger. I think the "King of Monsters" is special because, of the Godzilla species, he's the best (that's why he's King).
What do you think of my concept for Female Godzillas?

MemberGiganJul-02-2014 8:10 AMWow. This is AMAZING!!! EXTREMELY reasonable for a female Godzilla. One request: Can you draw one and post it here? That would be cool.

More attractive than males? Did you really just type that. Don't know many people who watch a Godzilla film because they find Godzilla attractive.

MemberTitanosaurusJul-02-2014 8:42 AMI'd say that males ought to have the larger spines, since in several animal species, a notable physical feature is usually the differentiating factor between males and females, mostly on the larger and/or more brilliant side with males. So, them being larger and stronger overall makes more sense, as well as their dorsal spines being larger and more pronounced to attract mates.
Adding to that dorsal spine idea, the largest spines wiht the brightest glows indicates the most optimal male for mating. However, I do agree on females having larger radiation reserves, likely due to the fact that they'd be the primary caregiver of young, and thus need to be able to carry more radiation around to feed them. And as with ost females, they tend to be more aggressive than males when rearing young.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-02-2014 12:36 PM@SCI-FI KING25: Thank you :) Sadly my artistic skills (at least drawing them) aren't nearly as good as SKREOONK1789's, but I could open the Godzilla: Smash3 model and edit it to be a female version.
@HERRO PREASE: All I meant was, to male Godzillas, the females very beautiful. Look at us humans, human females are more attractive looking in appearance while males are more masculine in looks.
@THEGMAN123: I was debating about the "dorasal spine" size myself. Your thought of the females "carry more radiation around to feed her young" gives me a neat idea for a Female Godzilla dorsal spine. Maybe they are 'rounder' to hold more radiation. The 2014 Male Godzilla seems to have only the middle row of spines that's really big, the ones on the side are very short. So for Female to have more 'nuclear reserves' they have medium-sized "rounder/fatter" dorsal spines on their middle row and on their side rows... thus having 2x more radiation than males without having larger spines.

MemberGiganJul-02-2014 1:33 PMWell if you look at birds it's actually the other way around with male and females. But intersting post.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-02-2014 1:44 PMThis is Great! It makes a lot of since for their to be a female in the Godzilla species.
I would like to add one thing though being a zoologist.
The female of the species for lizards, birds, and even fish are generally larger than the male of the species.
So could you imagine since Godzilla 2014 is 355 feet tall (movie height) how tall the female Godzilla might be? I'd put her around 40 to 45 feet taller at 400 feet tall. Also look at how much bigger the female MUTO was than the male MUTO.
Another thing to cconsider in this topic is why Toho never explored this idea. Was it considered to corny? Who knows? Might have explained Godzilla Jr's origin a little bit better.
Correct me if I'd wrong but wasn't this new Godzilla considered to be the last of his kind?

MemberTitanosaurusJul-02-2014 2:01 PMYou're right, HKing47! Females of such species generally ARE larger, and that means....... momma G ain't gonna be happy if we ever threaten her babies! Also, it's only been said that this Godzilla is possibly the last of his kind. It isn't a guarantee.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-02-2014 2:05 PMI kind of doubt that there is any significant difference between the males and females of Godzilla's species. Yes, it's believed that female T-rex were larger than males, but not by any amount significant enough that you would look at a male and female side by side and think, "Holy crap, that's one BIIIIG motha-" Besides, if the prequel comic is to be believed, Godzilla predates the first dinosaur by about 20 million years.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-02-2014 3:40 PM@LINKZILLA: I hadn't thought of that, which is sad considering I know a lot about t-rex. Yes, I have heard that Female Rexs were larger, but appearance wise was the same body shape as males. Since we don't have enough of the T-Rex, we can't tell coloration but still we wouldn't see much difference so great point!
In fact, most reptiles we don't see a significant difference between males and females, even those with gender size differences like crocodiles.

MemberTitanosaurusJul-02-2014 4:56 PMYeah, gender size differentiation is probably only slight overall. Maybe females were slightly taller at around 370 feet in comparison to the male Godzilla we've seen being 355 feet. But appearance-wise, I do believe a creature with features like Godzilla's dorsal spines indicates enough visual differences as I've pointed out before.

MemberAnguirusJul-03-2014 8:26 AMI actually prefer males being bigger, as Godzillas were alpha predators, I think Godzilla was the strongest Godzilla at that time being the alpha male of the species like he would dispatch challengers for the throne of the King. Males in size should be around 70-110 meters tall. Females should be 60-90 meters. I notced insome of ny favourite real animals, the smallest male is around equal to an average female so an average female Godzilla would be 75 meters and the smallesf male 70 meters. Average Godzilla male would be around 80-90 metera

MemberTitanosaurusJul-03-2014 8:48 AMThat makes sense, too, Godzilla316. Man, since this Godzilla we've seen is a very seasoned and old individual, he must've gotten ALL the ladies, if you know what I mean >w<

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-03-2014 4:59 PMTyrannosaurus sexual dimorphism isn't really determinate as of lately, there isn't really any concrete evidence showing it. Only one Tyrannosaurus has had it's gender determined...and that was B-rex...a gravid female.
Many fish and reptiles species have the female as the larger animals, so i could see it in Godzilla. As if a male godzilla romping through the city wasn't bad enough...a big momma defending babies would be an even scarier sight..

MemberMothra LarvaeNov-02-2014 2:33 PMI think the male and female Godzilla's should fight each other as a mating ritual. If the male wins, then the famale breeds with the male. If the female wins, then the male doesn't quialify to be a good mate.
I've also thought that the Original Godzilla from "Gojira", and the Godzilla from the Showa era were a mating pair, their genders are up for debate. The same goes with the Godzilla from the Heisei era.
