MemberBaragonNov-03-2014 6:05 AMHello everyone, it is time for the release of my full fan made godzilla graphic novel!
I hope everyone enjoys this, and well.....*disclaimer: I am in absolutly no way making any kind of money on this!
This graphic novel is dedicated to the godzilla team: Ishoro honda, akira ifukube, tomoyuki tanaka, and eiji tsuburaya.
This graphic novel is also dedicated to godzilla-movies.com and to you the fans. :)
Before i get started, i need to upload everything so for the time being this thread will be locked and then i will unlock it when it is fully uploaded. ;)
The cover:
Introduction:
Chapter 1: The voyage of the damned!
The date is november 3rd, 1954, out in the middle of the pacific ocean a ship called the Eiko-maru was out to collect some tuna for the people to eat back home. The crew members were playing their sweet songs of happiness.
When suddenly a blinding flash of light erupted from the oceans depths! "What was that?" Asked one of the crew members. Then another blinding flash of light erupted!
This time the blinding flash of light burst the ship into flames.
"AHHHHHH!" That would be the last words that many of them spoke as they let out their cries of sudden death. The smell of burning oil and flesh went up into the skies. Two of the crew members were lucky enough to get out the S.O.S. distress signal, but their lives would come to an end as well. The ocean broke through the glass windows, drowning the last two survivors.
While the s.o.s. signal was being broadcasted, Ogata who was working for the military, was given a call on the phone.
"Hello? Southern Sea Salvage, Ogata speaking. What?......Right, I understand. As soon as possible." A bit frustrated, Ogata would have to cancel his date with Emiko Yamana, the daughter of a well known scientist.
At the Southern Sea Steamship Company, everyone was in complete stress and panic. They were looking in to see what they could do. One officer suggested sending out another ship.
However, plans were already underway. The commanding officer already told his team that another ship called the Bingo-Maru was already out to find the answer for what happened.
Unfortanutely, while out on the ocean the Bingo-Maur would suffer the same fate as the Eiko-Maru!
Striken with more fear and panic, families were very concerned for their loved ones and for their friends who were on both of these ships that had sunk.
There were however, three survivors who were picked up by a fishing boat near by the accident.
"It was incredible. The ocean just blew up!" Said one of the survivors. Shocked to see what was on these survivors were strange burns that eventually caused these members to die.
As the word got back to the company about the three who were picked up the commanding officer had to break the news to everyone, the fishing boat that picked these three survivors up also was destroyed!
With all these disasters and with eveyone is complete chaos, the question remained on everyones minds. What was causing these disasters?
Chapter 2: Odo Island & the legend of a monster
On a small island not too far from japan, the villigers knew of these ship wreckings as well. They sat at the beaches just looking out at the ocean wondering just what could happen next. While up on a hill, Shinkichi and Izuma were looking out to see if they could find anything unusual.
"I can't imagine, could it be a volcano?" Izuma asked. Suddenly Shinkichi spotted something. "Izuma! Is there something out there?" Izuma got up to see, "Ah, it's a raft!" He replied. They both then started yelling together " Hey, there's a raft out there and it's coming this way!"
The rest of the villigers got up and had seen the raft. They quickly realized that it was Shinkichi's brother masaji. When masaji was rescued and had regained consciousness, he looked up to everyone and said "He did it....A monster" Then he passed out from his exhaustion.
The date is now november 4th, 1954, the next day at Odo Island, the villigers were out on small fishing boats trying to catch some fish only to no aveil. When nothing was caught Izuma said "Well then.....Godzilla must have done it" One woman said that Izuma and godzilla both were relics of the days past! Bothered by her smartass statement...
b
"Hey! What do you know about the old days? If you all keep thinking like that then you all will become prey for godzilla."
Most of the villigers were already aware of the legend, and perhaps the legend could be true. Suddenly, a helicopter was spotted flying over head and coming in for a landing.
Aboard the helicopter was a news reporter, Mr. Haragiwa, who was looking for a story to cover for the newspapers. He had ran into Masaji, who had told him what he thought was a giant monster that was causing these ship wrecks. Haragiwa didn't believe him and told him that he was crazy. Angered by this masaji had walked away.
An night fell in, a ceremonial dance was being played because the villigers were starting to wonder if this legend really did exsist. In confusion Haragiwa looked at Izuma and said...
"Gojira?" Izuma replied with "Yes! It's the name of a monster that lives in the sea. It will come form the ocean to feed on humankind to survive. In the old days, during times when fishing was poor, we used to sacrifice girls to prevent him from eating us all, yes! Now, this exorcism ceremony is all that remains of the old traditions."
As the night got darker, a freak hurricane swept in under the cloak of the midnight sky. Laying in bed along with the rest of his family, Masaji was worried that this monster might show up here on the island.
His suspensions were correct, their house started shaking. Shinkickhi looked up and decided to go outside to see what was making the house shake.
Masaji yelled at him to stay inside, but it was already too late. Masaji got up and ran after Shinkichi. Only to be stopped at the window to be striken with chills and with fear.
Masaji had realized that death returned for him. Finally the house collapsed in, killing Masaji and his wife.
While outside of the wreckage and ruin of the house, Shinkichi mourned for the loss of his family.
Disaster had struck once again.
Chapter 3: The search for the truth/ the monster discovered
November 5, 1954. At the capital, the villigers stood before the council and the ambassodor, each giving their own statements about what had happened on Odo Island.
"17 houses, 9 deaths, 12 cows, and 8 pigs were also slaughtered"
"I'm not lying! I know it was hard to see in the dark, but i swear i saw an animal!"
"I know it goes against common sense, but the more i think about it, the more i am convinced that it was definitely not a normal hurricane. The way the houses and helicopter were destroyed, it seems as if they were crushed from above!"
"I suppose my opinion is a bit premature before a thorough investigation. For this incident, i request the formation of a fact-finding party for a full investigation."
As the day got hotter and and the sun got brighter, this investigation team set off for their journey. While everyone was saying goodbye, a scientist by the name of Serizawa looked on with thoughts going through his head.
On board the ship that set sailed back to Odo Island, Ogata was talking with Emiko about seeing Dr. Serizawa. He also told her that even though they can avoid dangerous waters, anything could happen on this trip.
Lucky though, odo island was not that much further.
While on the island, the investigation team seen the destruction that layed before them. Tanabe another scientist was checking water wells for radiation. Come to find out, there was radiation in the wells and he told the villigers not to use them anymore. Dr. Yamana had discovered footprints, which they found radiation in them as well.
Yamana, was curious he looked down and seen something else.
"Emiko, look! It's a trilobite! A three-lobed creature that has long been extinct!"
Yamana still curious as to see if he could find anything else, started looking around again when suddenly.......
The alarm sounded, something had been spotted on the island. Everyone was so curious to what it was, they all started to run up the hill. Yamana was there first, then others caught up to him.
"Tanabe, i saw it! A creature from the jurassic period!" Haragiwa replied with "Where is it?"
The monster finally showed his face, screaming carried on while everyone was running away. As loud as their screams were something else echoed over top of their screams.
A roar so loud that it would shake the gates of heaven loose.
Emiko screamed for her life.
The monster finally disapperead, he went back into the oceans depths...
Back at the capital, Dr. yamana was giving a speech.
2 million years ago, this brontosaurus and other dinosaurs roamed the earth during a period the experts called jurassic.
This creature you see here, according to Odo Island folklore, is called Godzilla. As we look at this photo of godzilla's head from a hill on odo island, we can estimate that this creature stands 50 meters tall. So then, how can we explain the presence of such a creature during the present day? It probably survived by eating deep sea organisms occupying a specific niche. However, recent experimental nuclear detonations may have drastically altered its natural habitat. I would even suggest that it may have been removed from its surroundings by a hydrogen bomb explosion. Not to mention, we also found a trilobite embedded in godzilla's foot print.
The truth had to be made public! The word of godzilla made the cover of every single newspaper article all across japan. People read the papers and were stiken with fear! Finally preporations were being made to kill godzilla, ships went out with depth bombs and started nuking the bottom of the ocean. Dr. Yamana was upset with this, godzilla need to be studied!
Chapter 4: Godzilla, not dead/ Serizawa's labratory
November 6, 1954. The city was peaceful, people were having a good time. To them godzilla was dead and never to be seen again, while out of the waters of the pacific ocean, a boat with its passangers were playing songs of joyment. Everyone was laughing and having a good time, when rising out of the depths of the ocean....
Godzilla proved to the world that he was in fact, not dead! The passangers could not believe that he was still alive.
Finally, godzilla disapperead back into the depths. How on earth were they going to get rid of godzilla?
At one of the newspaper companies, Mr. Haragiwa was given the assignment to interview Dr. Serizawa, but he needed Emiko's help in order to talk to him. At Serizawa's labratory, Haragiwa aksed him what he was working on.
Frustrated, Serizawa would not say what he was working on. Harigawa had to leave but Emiko decided to stay. Emiko asked Serizawa herself what he had been working on recently. Serizawa said "Would you like to see it?" She said "Yes!" They both went down stairs to his labratory where he would show her, his work.
After showing her, he told her not to tell anyone about what she had seen.
Emiko finally had made it back home where Ogata, Shinkichi, and Dr. Yamana had been. She told them all that nothing happend while being at serizawa's labratory. All was quite until....city alarms sounded off, godzilla was coming in from shore to attack.
As godzilla made land fall, a train kept rolling on its path. Nothing would stop the train from reaching its destination. As godzilla progressed, getting closer and closer, the train seen godzilla but could not stop in time, the result can only be....catastrophic!
Godzilla wondered to himself, what was this thing that hit his damn foot?
He would lean over to take a look and eventually.....
He picked up part of the train in his mouth and then tossed it back down like it was a toy!
Dr.yamana, and ogata were watching from on top of a hill side in awe and fear. Godzilla would leave, but he would be back!
Chapter 5: Godzilla attacks/ unstoppable rampage
The government had enough! The military and even some of the towns people were told to build a 30 meter high, 80 meter deep electrical barbed-wire fence around the coast of japan. 50,000 volts of serring electricity would be used in hopes of shocking godzilla to death. "After this is done, we will need to keep everyone a safe distance of 500 meters from the entire coast. The plan went quickly underway, before night fall, the towers were ready. Tanks and other military vehicles quickly went to their destonations. The wait was on!
As the night fell darker and the lights started flashing, along the coast godzilla was spotted! Godzilla was coming in, ready for a fight!
As godzilla got closer he noticed the barbed-wire fence that was in his path, when....
Beeeeeppppppp.
Godzilla let out a triumphant roar, as mighty as the towers and the military were, godzilla proved to be even more mightier than anything humankind had ever seen.
The time had come, godzilla would unleash hell on earth. Homes and cities were engulfed by fire. Beneath the ashes and debris, incenerated victims layed burnt alive, the smell of their burning flesh tainted the heavens. Their screams growed loud in the place of their death!
Eventually all of tokyo was incenerated and engulfed with flames. Godzilla felt like the world had suffered enough for now, he would go on back to the bottom of the ocean to rest.
Chapter 6: The aftermath/ forumal for success
This is tokyo!
A city that now lays in ruins. Ashes, corpses, and rubble still left behind the presence of death lingering around the area. At the hospital, the first to suffer are always the children.
A poor little boy was picked up from the ruins of tokyo, and found out was covered in radiation.
A little girl sitting in front of her mother, wondering if her mother would live or not.
For her mother and so many others, there would be no tomorrow.
The little girl began to cry, she was now parentless. Why is it that the children are always the first to suffer?
Emiko couldn't take it anymore! She had to tell her secret about serizawa. Ogata and Emiko were talking to each other, she finally told ogata the truth. Serizawa has a weapon that can kill godzilla!
When they arrived at Serizawa's labratory, Ogata asked him to use the oxygen destroyer. No! He replied. All three of them went down stairs to his labratory where ogata and serizawa began to fight over the weapon. When ogata got injured, a nation wide prayer was heard all across the television. Perhaps the voices of the children got to serizawa and he changed his mind, he would go with ogata to kill godzilla.
While on the ship, serizawa told everyone that this was the only oxygen destroyer he had and that he must use it properly himself.
After he had convinced everyone, Yamana would look on at the ocean where ogata and serizawa both were, hoping for both of their returns.
Bubbles began to surface, the oxygen destroyer had been fired. Ogata had made it quickly back to the top of the water and back into the ship. While at the bottom though, serizawa would cut his ropes, he could not live with the memory of the oxygen destroyer in his head. He did not want to be forced to make another one by communists.
Recieving word that serizawa was dead, Yamana took his hat off and said....
"Serizawa"
More and more bubbles still surfaced amongst the top of the ocean and suddenly, godzilla surfaced, letting out his final breath of air in a terrifying roar that would not be ever forgotten.
Godzilla would float back to the bottom of the ocean where his flesh and bones evaporated. Godzilla was announced dead, never to return.
Dr.Yamana was thinking to himself, then he said "I can't believe that godzilla was the only surviving member of its species.....but, if we keep on conducting nuclear tests, its possible that another godzilla might show up somewhere in the world again."
Everyone aboard the ship would go on to salute serizawa for his sacrifice.
Epilogue
Well, unfortanutely. Unknowing to Dr.yamana and to the rest of the world, another godzilla did exsist. It wouldn't be long before his wrath was felt.
This has been my fan made godzilla 1954 graphic novel, yes everyone i am doing a follow up. I hope everyone here has enjoyed this. Please let me know what you all think. Thank you!

MemberMothra LarvaeNov-03-2014 10:46 AMNot bad, not bad at all. You definitely need to invest in a scanner, though. It's hard to fully appreciate your hard work without it.
Also, definitely try to learn to draw on blank paper instead of lined paper. It took me a while too, but it's a skill worth learning.

MemberMothra LarvaeNov-03-2014 5:00 PMI've seen a lot of Godzilla movies, but when I watched the 1954 original for the very first time, there was something unique about it that I only feel when I watch that film.
You, sir, have managed to capture those feelings. I truly felt the whole time the same way I do when I watch the movie. From beginning to end, I was entertained by the story and your amazing artwork.
I can't express how spectacular this is and how much talent you possess. It was definitely worth waiting for, and I can't wait for your sequel.
10/10 on both artwork and story.
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!

AdminGodzillaNov-03-2014 5:20 PMGlad to see this has been recieved so well it's quite the achievment.
Ben,
For your next one I highly recommend using blank sketching paper. The work is too good to be obscured by these lines and it would look more professional on your part.
In the future, when you get a scanner or are able to put this online at a much greater quality I would like to offer any services possible in removing the lines of your current graphic novel. It would be an undertaking, for sure, but certainly worth it for the sake of the art.
Great work. Don't stop it and think about your future with this. Grab fans by networking now. Deviant Art. Twitter. Facebook. A personal webpage. These aren't suggestions you should toss aside, you really need to think about these seriously to build yourself.
