Worst/Most Stupid Godzilla opponent?

What is the worst/most stupid Godzilla opponent in your opinion? Don't get me wrong, I love all the kaijus in the Godzilla series, no matter how dumb they look. But I gotta admit some of them don't look good with hindsight. Personally the most stupid opponenets I think its a tie between Jet Jaguar/Megalon/Moguera. Jet is just a rip-off of Ultra-man. Megalon has drills for hands, come on. Moguera is just an uninspired and less competent version of MechaGodzilla.

What about you?

The Giant Condor

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-29-2014 7:25 PM

I find Megalon's design to be truly inspiring, actually. A bipedal cyborg with insect and reptilian features? Totally cool.

I've never been a fan of Moguera or Space Godzilla.  Space Godzilla is a bit too Mary Sue for me.

ModeratorGiganDec-29-2014 7:59 PM

I love how you said Worst but then added, "Most stupid."

100% The giant condor for most stupid, worst is gabara.

Good grief.

Great... another negative thread.

Why do we constantly feel the need to demean and hurl insults at these films and the monsters we all love?!  How is it constructive?

As long as we are sharing opinions, I don't think their is a "worst" or "stupid" monster in the Godzilla series.  Each has charm, endearing and/or memorable designs, character that defines them, and even stories that, while not always "believable", are always fun and have captures all of our hearts.

Maybe I'm looking at the series through rose colored glasses, but what can I say... I love the hell out of every movie and monster.  I am not a fan that looks for and fixates on flaws... I just want to have fun with a fun movie.  You don't like that, tough.  I'm as entitled to my opinions as you are to yours.

You know when you make posts with rants like that it really kills the thread, and puts light that you find the thread "negative" something that most people don't want to be associated with. If you see a post you know you won't agree with why not just skip it, or simply say "I don't have a monster I think is the worst" rather than going on a tangent about how you love all aspects of the movies and monsters they include.

Just to shed light on this "worst" doesn't mean terrible depending on the comparisons it's being made to. If you have an olympic team chances are they're all amazing and you enjoy watching them all, but that doesn't mean that there isn't a "worst" member. That member is by no means bad or hated, they simply aren't as good as the others.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-29-2014 8:49 PM

^Yeah. What Durp said.

I' always thought Monguera was uninspired and dull so put it as Most Stupid and the worst is easily the Giant condor with Gabara coming in a close second. If anyone disagrees that cool, won't argue. It's just my opinion.

I agree with Duratok about Megalon, the design is pretty awesome.

You guys know MOGUERA wasn't originally even a Godzilla foe right? Mogera came before MechaGodzilla.

It first appeared as an alien construction mechanism gone astray in the 1957 masterpiece The Mysterians. There were multiple Mogeras in the film.

Gabara is for both stupid and the worst

Therizinosaurus for JW2!

Hmmm....I would have to say his box office records are pretty bad

I love all of Goji's foes, I can't hate any of 'em.

However, if we are talking about unecessary or rather weak monsters, perhaps the Giant Condor. The guy came outta nowhere and left just the same. XD I still like him though, especially his character in TohoToons.

i presonally like moguera and the gaiant condor, but gabra is just plain stupid

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-30-2014 8:40 AM

Ebirah was a pretty uninspired monster. I love Gabra :3

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-30-2014 9:14 AM

Oh yeah, Ebirah! I totally forgot about him. He gets my vote, nothing too exciting about a giant lobster.

GODZILLATHEKING123 - This is certainly a thought provoking topic! Hmm...I would have to say that the weakest of Godzilla's foes, in my opinion, was the Giant Condor. That bloody thing was, um, less than up to snuff with regards to the King of the Monsters! :)

MemberBaragonDec-30-2014 1:28 PM

Never really cared for kamakiras, ebirah, or the giant condor.

Bagan. Cause everyone likes him. I hate him, freaking Kmart Destroyah

I really don't like Gabara. Nothing about him (except his electric powers) are really cool. The Giant Condor was pretty useless, but I don't mind it.

There it is! Sparkzilla's speaking my language. Bagan. Easily.

I really don't mind all the others. Even the Giant Condor. I thought it was a cool nod that the island was so heavily irradiated it was effecting creatures besides just Ebirah.

GMAN2887 - Hmm. You know I never actually considered that notion with regards to the Giant Condor? Very compelling! Thank you for presenting that perspective! :)

MemberTitanosaurusDec-31-2014 5:48 AM

INTERESTING, Sparkzilla!

............I have an idea.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-31-2014 4:41 PM

Titanosaurs could be close to annoying just because of his roar. Don't get me wrong his design and abilities are ok, but his roar....ugh. But I LOVE the Terror of MG film

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-31-2014 8:25 PM

Whooooaaaaaaaa. Hold up. The Giant Condor is a LEGEND. Spread your wings and fly Giant Condor!

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-01-2015 1:51 PM

Guys, guys, guys.

Aren't we forgetting someone?

MemberBaragonJan-05-2015 4:37 AM

GMAN-Yes, you are right about Moguera. I should have clarified, I meant the '94 version with SpaceGodzilla. Which reminds me, SpaceGodzilla also isn't one of the better enemies, you can tell the producer and writers were running out of ideas if they have to make Godzilla fight such a similar version of himself.

As for the other fella ranting, well, look, I love Godzilla, but I'm not so blindly devoted to the series that I won't admit some of the Big G's enemies weren't really worthy foes.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-06-2015 2:23 PM

Oocondoru was pointless, and barely a foe.

Ebirah wasn't made to be a Godzilla villain.

Gabara was both stupid and ridiculous, but it never attacked Godzilla (that I can remember).

I'd say the MUTOs from the 2014 movie. Just because they weren't threatening and barely a challenge. Also, most simple and non-creative designs ever. Just took the Cloverfield monster and fused it with the Xenomorph Queen.
