MemberTitanosaurusJan-17-2018 7:14 AMI just watched G:MP on NETFLIX this morning. Watching it even with all the info I exposed myself to about the film I was still surprised. If you haven’t watched the movie yet then go now and see it! It won’t take up much of your time. It’s only an hour and 20 sum odd minutes long. Too quick for me.
This film explores more of the time after the monster wars. We see that humanity has dwindled down to about 4000 humans living among alien humanoids that have a strong religious faith. I found myself fascinated to watch the survivors try and stay sane and stable. Seeing that those who first survived the earth extraction ended up committing suicide or dying from desease.
I didn’t mind the movie focusing on these aspects as it reveals to us without going to far in depth about the reason for the survivors going back to earth. It moves pretty quick.
I didn’t like the way the Servum moved or the way they animated them. They didn’t look real or lifelike. They are cool and everything but I thought they didn’t do the movie any favors.
Ok, what everyone speculated about multiple Godzilla’s is true! For the first time we see 2 different ADULT GODZILLAS for the first time. Granted not together in the same scene or are they even close to the same size or age but none the less we see 2 Godzilla’s. While watching the film I remember the articles I read about this Godzilla’s size. So once we see the first Godzilla we are all’s wondering “so why is he so small? Why haven’t we seen any of his new abilities?”
I see why the deception throughout the film. After the defeat of the smaller Godzilla, the survivors speculate the possibility of another Godzilla. Then the earth shakes and this massive Older Godzilla emerges and reveal his size and new abilities! Thus thwarting the survivors and proving once again that Godzilla is a destroyer of worlds. He is in charge.
Then it ends. All I can say is watch the movie all the way through! It leaves a lot of questions more than answers about the movie.

MemberTitanosaurusJan-17-2018 9:52 AMThanks, but I have something else to talk about: Why doesn't the link for this work (Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters now open to Review in the Movie Database)? I don't know if it works for anyone else, but it doesn't work for me.

MemberTitanosaurusJan-17-2018 1:21 PMRight. I’m trying to get everyone’s reaction and opinion. I have a lot of more questions than opinions on this movie.

MemberTitanosaurusJan-17-2018 5:40 PMI enjoyed it. I thought that it was a good first attempt at a Godzilla anime. When the Planet of the Monsters trilogy is over, I hope to see more Godzilla anime. Though, for an anime called Planet of the Monsters, I expected seeing more Kaiju throughout the film. If only Godzilla Monster Apocalypse (the prequel novel) was translated and brought to America. Other than that, I thought it was very good. I can't wait for the manga and for the sequels.

MemberTitanosaurusJan-17-2018 8:58 PM^i had questions with all the other kaiju attacks prior to the arrival of Godzilla. Where did they go? Did Godzilla defeat them or did humanity find a way of combating the other monsters?
i have so many more questions. So Mechagodzilla is a man made mecha? Is it the size of the 50 meter Godzilla or is it the size of the current Godzilla?

AdminGodzillaJan-17-2018 9:13 PMriggzamortis86,
Many of your questions are actually in the movie, I think you just need to rewatch it to catch it all. Admittedly, more detail to the backstory was explained in supplementary material and the Godzilla: Monster Apocalypse prequel novel. There was a timeline that was released from a "Top Secret Folder" Promo in early 2017. The timeline was poorly translated into English, but you can get the jist of it here: https://www.kaijubattle.net/godzillatoho/inside-the-godzilla-monster-planet-top-secret-folder-promo
The short answer is humanity defeated some of the monsters, but Godzilla killed off the remaining monsters. Haruo vaguely alludes to this during the opening montage. He says, "And then, in the end, our worst nightmare appeared. Godzilla. Human or monster, it burned everything in sight."
The opening montage also explained that MechaGodzilla was made by the Bilusaludo for mankind to use against Godzilla. The connection is important because they mention their planet was the "third planet" in a system that was "swallowed by an accursed black hole." Just like the aliens that built the Showa MechaGodzilla.
There are currently no stats for the Bilusaludo's MechaGodzilla, so we don't know its height. Although it was built to fight Godzilla at 50 meters since mankind had no idea they would eventually face Godzilla at 300 meters, 20,000 years later.

MemberBaragonJan-17-2018 9:43 PMI did. I'm curious to see what the natives of Earth in that time will add to the story and how they survived.

MemberTitanosaurusJan-18-2018 8:49 AMYou bet I did. I thought that figure out in the forest might reveal itself sooner or later. I want to know what the Earth natives have in relation to the Godzilla ecosystem? if any at all?

MemberBaragonJan-18-2018 1:09 PMRegarding the kaiju attacks alluded to in the intro of the film, some other individuals and I are currently working on translating info from the novel and will be making a video examining every kaiju attack that is confirmed to have happened in the future.
But the intro of the film specifically mostly depicts attacks described on the timeline thing. It shows Kamacuras' attack on New York in 1999, Dogora's attack on London in 2002, the aftermath of Hedorah killing Rodan and Anguirus in 2005 in Beijing, Dagahra's attack on Australia in 2017, and Orga's attack on Izmir in 2022.
Regarding which kaiju Godzilla killed and those that humanity defeated, Godzilla is confirmed to have killed Kamoebas IV, Anguirus IV, Varan II, and Baragon II (the roman numerals indicate that multiple individuals of a specific kaiju have appeared). Humanity defeated most of the kaiju seen in the opening montage of the film, except for Rodan I and Anguirus I, which were both killed by Hedorah.

MemberBaragonJan-18-2018 5:33 PMI am interested to see if the native we see at the end (and around the 40 minute mark watching the scout team in the woods) has more in the book. I am interested to hear of their legends about the world they have lived on for so long.
