Hey guys, this is another post for my game project I've talked about a month ago. If you haven't read it yet go ahead and click here!
I wanted to update those who were interested and post 3 concept photos for the playable creatures. I only have 2 monsters so far and 2 of the concepts are of the same monster. Check 'em out:
They aren't much but I like how its coming so far. The next monster will be leviathan-esque. I haven't come up for any names for them yet as its pretty hard haha. One was Terram (Latin for ground) but it wasn't resonating too much with me. If you guys have suggestions do let tell lmao. Let me know what you guys think!
Oh yeah, I remember seeing this before. I have to say I'm rather fond of the flying one, but the walking one feels like he needs a bit more something to really make him stand out. I'm not sure what it is, I may take a crack at figuring it out, but I'd say you're definitely off to a decent start with the kaiju so far.
@Gomi Yeah the grounded one is being redone. I still want to incorporate the earth-shaker style kaiju design but I'm attempting to make him iconic-looking and unique.
So here's what I cooked up in about an hour for the ground kaiju, testing this and that. I think I've found something unique, but there's a few spots I'm still not too fond of or need more work.
Feel free to use any or none of this for your project. Just thought another perspective might help. I can also provide some closer pictures of the smaller sketches.
@Gomi those are really good actually! I'm loving the spiked beard and the bulkier arms too. I actually want to credit those who push this along a lot smoother so thank you!
Thanks! Personally I'm not especially fond of the short middle finger on the hands, I tried turning it and the thumb into a pincer that sits under the bigger attack claws, but I'm not sure I like that either. It's your kaiju though, so I'll let you decide what you want it to look like. I'd recommend adding some more spikes to his overall texture to tie in the spike beard though, I should've thought of that when I was sketching.

Hmmmmm. They both look super c00l. The second one kinda looks like Ridley (really only because the wings and crooked neck).
I don't care. Whatever it is, I'm ready to play it. But in my opinion, I think that the game could be like smash or Marvrel vs Capcom or Jump Force.
I love them both, but I feel like the first one really needs something to help make it stand out. That kinda also applies to the second one, but to a lesser extent. I like Gomi's drawings of the first, but I also agree they still need some more things to add. I suggest HUGE armored plates like on an Ankylosaurus to add to the first one's back, as well as some weird horns and spikes along the top of the head. Maybe put a bunch of quills on its back, or give it fishy scales or bird feathers? Maybe axolotl gills? A head crest, maybe similar to a Lambeosaurine Hadrosaur? I don't know, just throwing some stuff out there.
For the second one, I love the design, but the body and head kinda look a little bare. I just feel like a little something should be added there. Maybe the aforementioned Axolotl gills? Maybe make it so its mouth opens like a Sarcastic Fringehead (look it up if you have no idea what I'm talking about)? Maybe give it a dewlap like some lizards or birds, and make it big and blue like some lizards? Some kind of covering on the head, like a crest, spikes, horns, armor plating, etc? For the chest, maybe another one of those protruding bones you have on it? Maybe on the legs, add some sails that protrude along it, like old restorations of Amargasaurus or a Spinosaurus Sail? I don't know, just throwing out some weird ideas.
Don't mean to be critical, they look AWESOME. I just want to throw some ideas at ya.
