I mean, they're usually the more mediocre parts of monster movies. But some characters are good! The MonsterVerse has boasted some of the best human characters in these kaiju movies as Kong: Skull Island had quite a few likeable human characters, both Godzilla movies did a good job with Ken Wantanabe's Ishiro Serizawa, and Millie Bobby Brown did a pretty good job as Madison Russell in Godzilla: King of the Monsters and looks to do so again in the upcoming Godzilla Vs. Kong.

Honestly, I consider kaiju "events" more than characters. They're the main visual everyone comes to the movie for, but it's the characters in the story that make the conflict with the monsters work--Whether they be human or alien.
