Thoughts on: Godzilla vs Kong1,146 Views5 RepliesAdd A Reply
Hello peeps, been a day since I saw GvK and I honestly have to say: its miles better than the last film we got. The plot was more straight to the point than anything and honestly its comparable to Skull Island's plot (which I prefer out of the other films). The fights were very well done and the way the monsters interacted with everything and each other was honestly top notch. It manages to hit the mark with everything I wanted in regards to kaiju fight sequences. Granted, I did want them to last a little longer but I'm not unsatisfied with what I received. It honestly makes me wish the fights between Godzilla and Ghidorah could've hit that level of spectacle but I feel we're past that now given how the Monsterverse is going/went.
My only real issue, is the music. Its hard-hitting, yes, but its not memorable. Sure a part of me would've loved to hear the iconic themes like how Bear did, but I more-so wanted memorable original music that Tom is capable of doing. Take a listen to the Mortal Engines (Track name: A Ressurrected Man, or London Suite in C-Major) and his new Justice League tracks (At the Speed of Force, or Crew at Warpower) if you haven't already. Those are example of, in my opinion, his best work. Unfortunately he didn't translate that too well here and just went for percussion and noise which sounds alright while applied to the scenes but it isn't something I'd go out of my way to listen to outside the film.
If I go any further I may go into spoiler territory but all in all, it was a very satisfying watch. I'll gladly watch this again.
I enjoyed every second. Not going into any spoilers but they really delivered on a Monster Movie.
@Jordan502 They didn't hold back this time, and that was the selling point.
