What story would I make if I wrote the story for Godzilla Vs. Kong?

MemberGiganMay-11-2021 12:55 PMSo....I've already said that Godzilla Vs. Kong is my favorite movie in the MonsterVerse, and that it still has problems nevertheless. But I've been thinking about how would I change the movie and I've decided to write out a little story of how I would handle GVK if I was the one writing it. So, here is my idea of what Godzilla Vs. Kong SHOULD'VE been:
Title - Godzilla Vs. Kong
Runtime - 2 hours and 53 minutes
So anyways with that out of the way, here's the story:
The film's beginning takes place 2 years before the events of the actual movies with Alan Jonah (Charles Dance) and Walter Simmons (Demian Bichir) meeting. It would've been revealed that the eco-terrorists from Godzilla: King of The Monsters would've uncovered two fossilized Ghidorah skulls from an ancient Titan war and Jonah gives the two skulls, keeping a third one (AKA the KOTM post-credits scene skull) for other plans. The timeline would've jumped then to the beginning scene of the actual movie and not much would be changed. Basically that scene and the opening credits would remain unchanged. But here's where things really start to change. I would remove Bernie Hayes (Brian Tyree Henry) and Josh Valentine (Julian Dennison) from the entire movie if I was in charge. So the Pensacola attack is shortened with Godzilla's scenes remaining. The MechaGodzilla eye shot also would be nixed to add more mystery to the story (I would've also added a scene with Ren looking on and reflecting how his father Ishiro neglected him to pursue the research of the Titans) But I would add a scene that would take place before the attack. Like in the novelization Mark Russell (Kyle Chandler) would try and convince his superiors at MONARCH to evacuate Pensacola but they refuse to believe that Godzilla would do this. So the school scene would stay and the conversation between Mark and his daughter Madison Russell (Millie Bobby Brown) would be extended to bring up both the events of Godzilla (2014) and KOTM. Also, the whole "So cut your pops some slack" would be removed as well. So we would have Madison at home next, and unlike the actual scene we saw in GVK she would not be listening to Bernie's podcast and she would be actively assembling the chart we saw. We would also get some of the novel's PTSD moments to develop Madison more. We would then get the whole Nathan Lind (Alexander Skarsgard) meeting Walter and Ren Seriwaza (Shun Oguri) and when Walter asked "What did go wrong on your brother's mission?" Nathan would tell the two and we'd get a flashback scene that showed his death. Then we'd get the HEAVS and we should get another Titan to help moment. We would've then gotten a flashback of what happened to Jia's (Kaylee Hottle) family and then we would've gotten some of the film's scenes that made the cut about Nathan convincing Illene Andrews (Rebecca Hall) to use Kong for the Hollow Earth journey. Then we would've gotten some more Madison as she decides to head off to Pensacola and figure out the rampage and she finds a photo of Mecha G's eye sent to her by an unknown contact shortly before she heads off. Then all of the sea stuff would be unchanged and the said Madison scene above would be placed between Kong talking and the Tasman Sea battle. After that, Madison would've hitched a ride on the monorail transport that had the Skullcrawler eggs. Then, the Hollow Earth scenes would stay. We'd also get a conversation between Mark and Director Guillerman, and that would intersect with Madison finding out about MechaGodzilla with Godzilla starting to head to Hong Kong and then we'd see him swimming and see some visions of an ancient war that his ancestors fought and as he would sense Mecha G he would receive a vision of Ghidorah and then he'd briefly breach the water and roar before continuing on his course. Then the Hollow Earth part 2 would go the same way except Maya Simmons (Eiza Gonzalez) would give a small fraction of the plan away and say "This energy can help us find a way to defeat Godzilla." and then Godzilla would then start drilling into Hollow Earth. The Hong Kong fight would've stayed the same way and in between round 1 and 2 Madison would get caught by APEX security and Walter would make some comments about the Russells and Ren would be arguing with the CEO because of the possible dangers of the Hollow Earth energy. Then round 2 of the Hong Kong battle would be shown and it would end in the same way. Everything with MechaGodzilla from this point on would remain mostly unchanged with this time Madison figuring out the password and shutting down the satellite and then we would get Mecha G's defeat. Godzilla and Kong's acknowledgement would also stay the same but then we would get an ending scene for Madison to set up Godzilla 3 and the same Kong in Hollow Earth scene that ended the actual GVK. We would also get two post-credits scenes, one with Zhang Ziyi's and Jessica Henwick's characters and that would tease Mothra's MonsterVerse return and the other would have Alan Jonah and the remains of APEX working together to build MechaGhidorah.
That's all of my story pitch, and I hope you like it! Sound off your thoughts in the comments.
Godzilla Vs. Kong is currently playing in theaters.

MemberGiganMay-12-2021 1:04 PMI like GvK, but I admit the characters aren’t that good

MemberBaragonMay-12-2021 1:11 PMI mentioned this a while ago, but I feel like Godzilla could have been shown more throughout the movie besides the fights and the facility attack. I thought they would show his side of the journey, like Kong journeying through the hollow earth. But that's just my thought.

MemberGiganMay-12-2021 1:12 PMoops sorry Katto.
The characters are certainly better than *cough* G'14 *cough*

MemberGiganMay-12-2021 1:12 PMYeah Godzilla could've been shown more

MemberAnguirusMay-12-2021 1:12 PMMaybe it's cause we've seen a lot of Godzilla's side and now we have Kong
my take on it

MemberGiganMay-12-2021 1:14 PMYeah....except now we're getting a Kong sequel soooo they should've had equal billing....

MemberBaragonMay-12-2021 1:16 PMYeah I guess. One would think we would get even stories from both sides though.

MemberGiganMay-12-2021 1:20 PMYeah, but keep in mind that my "script" featured a lot of Madison (even though it was more about her self-reflection than anything else).

MemberBaragonMay-12-2021 1:27 PMSpeaking of Madison, she could also have made more scenes. I also don't recall the Kong supporters meeting the Godzilla ones. Sure they were all in Hong Kong after the Mechagodzilla fight, but I never saw them greet each other or anything.

MemberGiganMay-12-2021 1:27 PMThe characters from G14 are far better than GvK. Where did Serizawa and Joe Brody, and Othere come from

MemberGiganMay-12-2021 1:36 PMIshiro Seriwaza was great but the other G'14 characters sucked
sonictiger
MemberGiganMay-12-2021 1:36 PMand tbh I don't CARE about Joe.
He's fine, but wasted. In fact, when he died the movie went quickly downhill from there.

MemberGiganMay-12-2021 1:41 PMI worked in the plot, and Ford and Godzilla reflected each other. That’s why I avoid the negatives when I go into a movie, to see it and find the usually more abundant positives.
And the second act. It’s not bad. The Muto sequence is great, on the train, and them finding the the muto gone from the nuclear waste container. The military planning is great and realistic, and people give ford a hard time for not emoting, but that’s because they expect a character to be mopey. If you watch the scenes where he’s happy you can see the talent the actor has.

MemberGiganMay-12-2021 1:45 PMAaron-Taylor Johnson did better in his extended cameo in Tenet and as Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
I just didn't feel very convinced by his acting.

MemberGiganMay-12-2021 2:13 PMThat’s shame. But I don’t understand claiming undeveloped characters are better than ones with good arcs.

MemberGiganMay-12-2021 2:18 PMOk, Madison was somewhat developed (but got screwed over in GVK) and I thought Ishiro had a lot of the good lines.
sonictiger
MemberGiganMay-12-2021 2:18 PMTotally coulda used development though...

MemberAnguirusMay-12-2021 4:52 PMI like it. I think they could've changed or added some parts to the script too.

MemberGiganMay-13-2021 8:05 AMYes. What's your favorite part?
Xenotaris
MemberGiganMay-18-2022 10:37 AMGodzilla 2014 was the best Godzilla movie in the Monsterverse. Ford Brody is a military man, you are not going to emote much being in the service, they condition that out of you in boot camp so you won't panic in the warzone and let the enemy know your emotional state.

MemberGiganMay-18-2022 4:38 PMLooking back, I'd swap Alan Jonah and MechaGhidorah for MONARCH trying to biologically create their own Titan..."Project Biollante".

MemberGiganMay-18-2022 7:29 PMSounds nice sonictiger
Also SonicTiger what did you think of Rise of the Kaiju?

MemberGiganMay-18-2022 8:28 PMIt's cool! Really enjoy it...just waiting for the next one. That's all.

MemberGiganMay-19-2022 12:23 PMThanks, except there's no Ghidorah mech...just MONARCH making Biollante.
