One of the earliest announcements for Godzilla Day has been the rumored upcoming movie for the 70th anniversary! Arriving in theaters on November 3rd, 2023 will be the next entry from Toho directed by Japanese Academy Award winning director Takashi Yamazaki!
Last Spring, a site calling for extras revealed that Yamazaki was directing an Untitled, Toho kaiju film. The call for extras revealed the film was be shot between March-June this year. It also revealed that the scenes in need of extras take place in the late 1940s--post-war Japan. It's unclear if the setting is for one scene or the entire picture.
Additionally, the call for extras was announced on the Godzilla+ App in Japan. This lead some Japanese fans to wonder if Yamazaki was directing the next Godzilla entry. While details are scarce, the rumored title is Godzilla: Zero. (The logo seems to indicate a "zero" looking G.) An avid Godzilla fan, Yamazaki won the Japanese Academy Award for Best Director and Best Screenwriter in 2006 for Always: Sunset on Third Street. He also helmed highly acclaimed actioners, Returner and Space Battleship Yamato. Yamazaki gave Godzilla a cameo during a dream sequence for Always: Sunset on Third Street 2. He also directed the footage for the Seibuen Amusement Park's Godzilla the Ride: Giant Monster Battle Summit. The man is no stranger to Godzilla.
You can watch footage of Godzilla he's directed in his projects below.

SasquaDash, Could be the 70th since it's the end of the year. Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II was released in December of 1993, but was considered the 30th Anniversary film. There's a logo for it on the poster.
G. H. (Gman), I plan to watch the entire franchise before November 3rd.
I'll be sure to keep you guys posted. Could anyone here give me a good viewing order (I'll be skipping the MonsterVerse this time around so don't post that).
well TriStar Godzilla is mentioned in one of the millennium movies not sure which since I have yet to watch them but I do know Godzilla98 makes a cameo appearance in Final Wars
Ah this is awesome. I hope they add a new unique monster that's on par of ascending god hood. Nothing better than an OG fighting a new villain that completely overpowers them.
