how to include Gigan into the monsterverse
KaijuBuildz
MemberTitanosaurusApr-05-2018 10:40 PMGigan is one of the most requested kaiju to appear in the monsterverse, but I always thought it wouldn’t make much sense to put an alien cyborg in a grounded universe. But more recently my opinions have changed on this subject. This forum will explain what I think could be a great way to introduce Gigan in a grounded universe such as the monsterverse.
Recently I had a conversation on my other forum for Mechagodzilla about aliens joining the monsterverse with Mechagodzilla. I suggested that aliens would take Mechagodzilla, King Ghidorah, and the male Muto into space and transform them to be alien weapons. Mechagodzilla would just get some extra weapons (probably inspired by the Showa Mechagodzilla). King Ghidorah would get turned into Mecha-King Ghidorah. And the male Muto would turn into GIGAN.
Now that might seem very farfetched, but that is what I think is the best and most believable way to introduce Gigan into a realistic setting. Here are some physical elements that the male Muto and Gigan have in common.
- The big red eye
- Hook-like hands
- A beak (sort of)
- The ability to fly
- A place for the buzzsaw in the chest (the place where the male Muto got stabbed in 2014)
- same colors as the 2004 Gigan
Now that might not be many similarities, but with some upgrades, it might work. Now I will list some upgrades to make the male Muto truly look like Gigan. each of the upgrades will have a reason behind it.
Btw, the aliens could also use some body parts from the female Muto to make some of these things possible (like the stronger legs).
- Metal spikes on the head (antenna for the alien controls)
- Metal beak and 2 claws around the mouth area (used for biting attack)
- Metal Hooks (stronger and more painful version of the standard Muto hooks)
- Make him stand upright (used so he can use his hooks better)
- Shorter/stronger legs (used to stand upright)
- Metal tail (used to stand upright)
- Higher pitched Muto roar (to sound like Gigan's roar)
- Metal feet (used for standing upright and to have a better balance)
- Buzzsaw in the chest (used for up close attack)
- Eye laser (used for long-range attack)
- Smaller Wings and fins on his back (to more look like Gigan and so he can glide instead of flying)
I do think that each monster that gets up ducted by the aliens, would be controlled by the aliens remotely. this would give each monster (robot or not) to have their own personality. I do want the alien that controllers Gigan to have the same personality as Gigan from the Showa/millennium series. That way Gigan will still get his personality. I want him to be very violent, but a coward and overconfident. At some point I want Gigan to try and flee when the battle turns against him and fail.
This version of Gigan would be pretty short (about 80 meters), but he could be agiler this way.
This is the end of this forum. yes I know it was very short, but I don’t have anything else to say here. I might make a forum for aliens in the monsterverse by themselves. If you have any theories for Gigan in the monsterverse, please leave it in the comment section. Any opinion is welcome.
note: sorry for the small text at some point, but I don't know how to fix that.

MemberTitanosaurusDec-15-2018 12:39 PMThank you so much. If the monsterverse ever has some sort of Destroy all monsters movie, I am hoping that it will be a war between earth kaiju and cyborg kaiju (off course Gigan would be part of this). Along with Gigan could be Mechagodzilla, Mecha-King Ghidorah and some new cyborg kaiju (Mecha-Mothra or Mecha-Skullcrawler?)

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-11-2019 2:03 AMSo my idea of how to bring Gigan into the monsterverse is slightly different. As a matter of fact i'm doing an Audio Drama series on it calle Project G.I.G.A.N.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

MemberTitanosaurusFeb-11-2019 3:55 AMWow, I really like your take on a Monsterverse version of Gigan. I really like the way you made Gigan an alien and a human construct at the same time. Using the name Gigan as a codename and making the monster named after that is very cool as well.
After hearing that Michael Dougherty has an interest in possibly bringing Gigan to the Monsterverse in a possible Godzilla 3, I would love to see this origin of yours included in that movie.
My origin really would fit more in a Destroy all monsters type of movie.

MemberAnguirusJun-16-2019 3:49 PMI'd like Kumonga to be in the MV...they have the new spider kaiju, but how about Kumo? They could have both.

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-16-2019 1:30 AMFirst of all, I'd like to just throw this out...
Gigan Doesn't have red eyes, he has a red cybernetic visor, and this two plausible reasons... It is likely to portray his half mechanical nature as glowing eyes has often been used to indicate robots made up to resemble living organisms, to show that they are in fact, machines... The other reason dates back to the original Gigan, which was green and gold, not black, and I'm pretty sure i have seen a version that had black eyes... The red glowing visor originates from this version, which fired a beam from it's eyes (or between them) that would neutralize Godzilla's atomic breath. They never showed him fire it in the old movies, but it was shown and explained in the game Godzilla: Monster of Monsters, and after reading it in the manual and playing the game it matched the fact that in most fights with Gigan, Godzilla took the longest time and worst beatings, before he finally used his breath attack. According to that game, it was because he just couldn't do it, because Gigan's gaze was preventing it. As I said, they never showed Gigan fire this beam in the old movies, but rather, it seemed to be a constant effect, represented by a red light shining from between his eyes.
With that said, I would like to just say that I would not like to see the Muto Turned into Gigan, I like the Muto is a it's own and completely new creature, rather than just a revision of a old one. Both the old Ghidorah and Gigan were shown in the old series to be weapons that war mongering aliens would either use, or sell to others to use.
In Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster, Ghidorah was said to have wiped out the civilization of Venus or Mars, which was at least centuries ahead of our current civilization, and then he came to earth to do the same here. When he failed, it was revealed in the sequel movie, Godzilla VS Monster Zero, it was revealed that he was under the control of the people of Planet X (No not the Xilians, despite what the wikis may claim, the People of Planet X and the Xilians are entirely different in biology, culture, and technology) thae fact Ghidorah had turned out to be under the control of an alien race the whole time suggests that Ghidora destroyed mars/Venus under the commands of the people of Planet X. Given the advancement of Mars/Venus, it is highly likely that the planet's people were a space faring race and must have entered into a war with Planet X, a war they lost when Planet X unleashed Ghidorah on them... Later, Ghidorah returned in Destroy All Monsters as a weapon of the people of Kilak, which must have bought him from Planet X, he then returned again with Gigan's first appearance, in which they are both under the control of super evolved alien cockroaches, which controlled them via special audio tapes. That's the last Ghidorah would be seen in that series for a long time, but Gigan returned in Godzilla VS Megalon. In that movie, Megalon, a creature very similar to Gigan, appearing to be cybernetic, having limbs that could combine to become a mechanical drill, spit bombs, and a thunder cannon on it's head, was under the control of the Seatopians, an ancient civilization of people who lived in the hollow earth. When they discovered that Godzilla was coming to fight Megalon, they grew afraid and asked Easter island for help and they responded by sending Gigan to fight for them. Easter Island has long been thought to be an Alien landing site, so it's likely that Seatopia some how had an alliance with some aliens who happens to possess Gigan at the time.
I feel that the space weapon background should remain and it would be more plausible if Ghidorah, since he has already been identified to be an Alien from outer space in King of the Monsters, also turns out to be a weaponized space monster, sent to Earth long ago to conquer it and his destruction by Godzilla set off a signal to the aliens and when they finally answer the signal, they bring Gigan with them.

MemberGiganSep-27-2019 10:58 AMI think Gigan and the MUTO should be separate entities since the MUTO is a parasitoid that naturally evolved to hunt Godzillas while Gigan like King Ghidorah should retain being an Alien

MemberTitanosaurusSep-27-2019 11:10 AMHonestly, I think so as well. I think it would give the Monsterverse some originality instead of every monster being a classic monster. Both the MUTO and the Skullcrawler were fresh and new additions to the Monsterverse and the kaiju genre as a whole.
I probably won't do another one of these to update it, but I think you will like this fanmade audio Drame by Scrye. I think you will like this more alien origin for Gigan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Cx-SqyDhS0
Long story short, this topic doesn't hold up that well anymore.

MemberGiganSep-27-2019 11:12 AMah, well make one about Monster X/Kaiser Ghidorah :)

MemberTitanosaurusSep-27-2019 11:20 AMHmm, could be interesting. I have kind of stepped away from the "How to include" series, but maybe I will revisit someday after GvK, but I have some alternative topic ideas in mind which I would like to make first.
Maybe Kaiser Ghidorah could be some form of ancient emperor of the Ghidorah species (Kaiser is german for emperor after all) who survived for an insanely long time by incasing itself inside a meteor.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-12-2020 10:05 AMI feel its more likely we will be seeing Gigan rather then Mechagodzilla in GVK with Gigan being a superweapon of the hollow earth civilization, created from a female titans Gojira (if the Godzilla species is like the T rex the females would be larger then the males) to defeat Ghidorah should he somehow be freed as a dead mans weapon.
However her diamond storage capsule was shattered due to the earthquakes, which could have been caused by the nuke set off in king of the monsters, the EMP traveling threw a Hollow earth tunnel connected to the temple of Gojira which switched from Guardian mode to Hunter mode meant for killing all the titans should the Titanus Gojira species go extinct. The titans are converging onto skull island in an attempt to destroy Gigan before it comes fully online. However, Kong due to behavioral issues caused by the Death of his parents and territorial nature. he attacks. His furious attacks kill or drive off many of the lessor titans forcing Godzilla to skull island.
